Xrd avatar.

Avatars, also called lobby avatars, are a mechanic in the Guilty Gear series. First appearing in Guilty Gear Xrd -Revelator- and reappearing in Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2 and Guilty Gear -Strive-, avatars allow players to alter their appearance and actions when in online lobbies. Avatar customization options, as well as emotes for the avatars to perform, can be obtained via fishing.

Overview

Guilty Gear Xrd -Revelator-

Beginning with their first introduction in Revelator and continuing through Rev 2, Xrd avatars have two customization options: head character and body color. Body color comes in a total of 32 options, with Classic Gray unlocked by default and the rest obtainable through fishing. The other customization option, "head character", allows the player to choose from a number of models based on Xrd characters' heads, including both playable and NPC characters, to use for their avatar. In addition to the "Generic" head, unlocked by default, Revelator has thirty-nine unlockable through fishing and four available through paid DLC,[1] for a total of forty-four character head options. Rev 2 introduced an additional twelve character head options, for an overall total of fifty-six; however, only fifty-two are available on the game's Steam port, as the four DLC head character options are available only on PlayStation.

Xrd avatars have a fully 3D appearance, with squat, featureless bodies and square heads.

Guilty Gear -Strive-

In Strive, avatars gain a number of additional customization options. Players choose between one of two body types, one of three figures, one of thirteen skin tones, and one of six eye colors, and can additionally customize their appearance by unlocking avatar options in six different categories—hair, tops, bottoms, shoes, hat, and equipment—through fishing. In addition to generic options available in each category, each playable character has at least one avatar customization option in each slot, allowing players to dress up as any of the playable cast or a mix of several.

Certain characters have multiple options in certain slots, such as Dizzy having both "Dizzy Shoes & Wings" and "Dizzy Shoes & Necro/Undine" in the shoes category. Each character-themed avatar customization option is unlockable in six colors, matching the playable character's default available six palette colors.

Strive avatars have a faux-2D presentation and, though pixelated, appear otherwise closer to human than their Xrd counterparts.
