The formal name is facsimile. A transmission service that sends image data over long distances. It also refers to the device used for such transmissions.

Devices and names like this are no longer used in this game's time, but there are similar services using magic.

The service is offered over public institutions, but the fee for a single use is extremely high. Some government agencies and businesses make regular use of this, but use by individuals is rare.

The most advanced ones send not just images, but video data as well, and it's common for magic transmissions (voice calls) to include three dimensional holograms. The reason Potemkin could video call with President Gabriel was due to unique mechanical technology by Zepp, and is unrelated.
