Liberia is a location in the Guilty Gear series, appearing in Guilty Gear Judgment. It is the first area of the story mode of the game.

Design

Liberia is a rural village on the island of Isene that has been recently destroyed and overrun by Raymond's creations. Though now abandoned, signs of recent life are apparent throughout the area, such as still-burning fires and overturned carts full of fresh fruit.

Liberia is split into four unnamed stages:

  • Stage One: the main path through the village, winding between houses.
  • Stage Two: The interior of one of the village houses.
  • Stage Three: a secret passageway found inside the house, leading underground and away from the village.
  • Stage Four: An outdoor area found at the end of the secret passage. The first boss of the game, a fusion of three monsters created by Raymond, is fought here.

Story

The player character arrives on Isene after hearing rumors of the devastation Raymond is wreaking upon the island, and travels first to the village of Liberia.[2] Finding it empty of people and teeming with monsters, they fight their way through to one of the houses within the village.

The house is also full of monsters, but after defeating the beasts the player character finds a hidden passage within the house.[2] Following the passageway leads them further into the island's interior, until they exit the passage and end up outside and face-to-face with a large, three-headed monster, the result of one of Raymond's experiments. The player character defeats the monster and resolves to explore the island further, which leads them into Ashnay.[3]
