There were five mass extinctions during the Phanerozoic Eon. The end of the Devonian Period was the second. This occurred roughly 374 million years ago. Most sea life, including plachoderms like dunkleosteus, and other armored fish, went extinct during the time. It's said that about 82% of all creatures on Earth died off during this event.
