There were five confirmed mass extinction events since the Cambrian Peroid[note 1]. The end of the Triassic Period was the fourth such extinction. This occurred roughly 210 million years ago. Most ammonites, reptiles, theropsids[note 2], and other large creatures died off. It's believed that about 76% of all species on Earth went extinct at this time.
