Venom's Billiard Balls are unique weapons used by Venom and have appeared in every Guilty Gear game he has appeared in since since his addition in Guilty Gear X.

Overview

Venom's main form of attack is launching billiard balls into his opponent. He can summon them (usually only 4 or 5 at one time) into different formations, summon them with an damaging area-of-effect, and additionally charge and fire them from the end of his pool cue. Once on the field, any of Venom's attacks can knock them around, and will be bounced around by other cue balls that come into contact. Venom can also create larger cue balls, such as those used in his Dark Angel and Bishop Runout overdrives, as well as fire a hail of cue balls from the air.

In the games, some of his moves also turn characters into unique billiard balls with their faces on them. For the Guilty Gear X and Guilty Gear XX Λ Core series of games, this is done via Dimmu Borgir, an Instant Kill, and again with an Instant Kill (Giga Machina System) in Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2. For Guilty Gear -Strive-, the ability that turned an opponent into a ball was changed to Tryambaka, a Special Attack.

Dimmu Borgir

Venom turns his opponent into a billiard ball before creating 8 more billiard balls and hitting them with a cue ball, which causes them to attack the transformed opponent ball, causing it to explode.

Giga Machina System

Venom turns his opponent into a billiard ball and places them on a pool table along with other billiard balls around them. Then Venom strikes a cue ball to break the group; his opponent ricochets off a border and falls into a mouth that appears on the table. Its startup attack uses the animation of Stinger Aim without the ball.

Tryambaka

Venom performs a spinning flourish with his pool cue and any grounded opponent in front of him is transformed into a yellow billiard ball. While trapped as a ball, the opponent will be knocked around the screen, unaffected by gravity, by attacks from his pool cue and cue balls for a short time. They will also be affected by Navaratna Runout and be sucked towards it.

  • His first Instant Kill was localized in most of its appearances as "Dim Bomber" until it was finally corrected to Dimmu Borgir in Λ Core Plus R. Dimmu Borgir is the name of a Norwegian symphonic black metal band.
