Rivalry themes

Rivalry themes are songs that are played when certain characters are chosen by each of the 2 players while they are in battle. For example, when P1 chooses Sol and P2 chooses Ky in Guilty Gear -The Missing Link-, the song Conclusion will play instead of their character themes. In Guilty Gear -Strive-, there are no rivalry themes due to the soundtrack's focus on vocal tracks instead of instrumentals and the composer's intent for the songs to be more about the character instead of being just background music.

Sol vs Ky

In each main installment of the Guilty Gear franchise (with the exception of Guilty Gear -Strive-), the main composer of the games, Daisuke Ishiwatari has composed rival themes for Sol and Ky. These are: Conclusion (Missing Link), No Mercy (Guilty Gear X), Noontide (Guilty Gear XX), The Re-coming (Guilty Gear 2) and Reunion (Xrd)". The Heavy Rock Tracks version of "No Mercy" is also used in Guilty Gear XX in matches between EX Sol and EX Ky.

For the Korean release of Guilty Gear XX ♯Reload, the song "Revelations" composed by Shin Hae Chul replaces Noontide as the rival theme for Sol and Ky , and the Heavy Rock Tracks version of "No Mecy" is replaced by "Faith Shall Save Thee".

Zato/Eddie vs Millia

For GGX, a rivalry theme for Zato/Eddie and Millia is added named "Still In The Dark". It is also present in Guilty Gear XX in its Heavy Rock Tracks arrangement, and is played when EX Millia and EX Eddie fight each other. This song will be their rivalry theme for the fighting games until GGXrd where the song "The Spider’s Thread (Do you know)" replaces it. Both song uses an acoustic/classical guitar prominently in their composition.

In the Korean release of Guilty Gear XX ♯Reload, "Red Crossroads" plays instead of the Heavy Rock Tracks version of "Still In The Dark".

Assassins's Theme

In GGXX, the song "Existence" is added. This theme plays if any two of the four assassin characters—Zato-1/Eddie, Millia Rage, Venom and Slayer—are pitted against each other. It replaces "Still In The Dark" as Millia and Zato/Eddie's rivalry theme. In GGXRD the track is replace by "When Life Comes"

In the Korean version of ♯Reload, the track is replaced by "Rogue Hunters"

Order Sol vs Ky

In GGXXΛC, the track "Keep the Flag Flying" is added. This is the rivalry theme of Order Sol and Ky. This song has only ever been released on Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Secret Gig, which means that it not currently available for streaming.

Sin vs Ky

The song "Communication" is added in GG2 which will play when for Sin and Ky clash. This song is reused in GGXRD with the same purpose.
