Axl Low/Commands
Rensen Geki (鎌閃撃, Ren Sen Geki?, lit. Sickle Flash Strike) is one of Axl's signature Special Attacks. It was first introduced in the original Guilty Gear
Would later be localized as Sickle Flash as of Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign-.
In -STRIVE-, Rensen Geki would be able to travel full-screen.
In Guilty Gear, Axl uses his front foot to help get the angle while he pulls the chain up. If it lands, the opponent gets pulled back up to their neutral stance.
In Guilty Gear -STRIVE-, the opponent gets launched and knocked towards Axl if it hits.
In -STRIVE-, Rensen Geki gains a third follow up in the form of Winter Cherry (鬼灯, Hōzuki?), making the active sickle explode, launching the opponent if it lands.
Benten Gari (弁天刈り, Benten Gari?, lit. Petaled Heaven Cutter) was first introduced in the original Guilty Gear, and last seen in Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2.
Would later be localized as Artemis Hunter in Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign-.

Axl Bomber
GGXrd
In Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign- onwards, Benten Gari would be changed so that Axl swings his front sickle around, creating a fiery image of a woman playing a shamisen. If it hits the opponent, they get blasted back.
Tenhou Seki (天放石, Ten Hō Seki?, lit. Heaven-Freeing Stone) was first introduced in the original Guilty Gear, and last seen in Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2.
Would later be localized as Heaven Can Wait in Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign-.
Axl assumes a defensive stance for a brief period. If he's hit by a non-projectile attack while in this stance, he grabs the opponent and throws them away.Raiei Sageki (雷影鎖撃, Rai Ei Sa Geki?, lit. Thunder Shadow Chain Attack) was first introduced in the original Guilty Gear. Would later be localised as Thunder Shadow Chain in Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign-, and gains a variant in the form of Rainwater (潦, Niwatazumi?) in Guilty Gear -Strive-.
The version, which would go on to be the version used in the Xrd series has Axl leap high and forward, with intent to strike the opponent from the rear by sending out one of his sickles.
In Guilty Gear -STRIVE-, Axl hops backwards while swinging his rear sickle around with intent to strike from behind, pulling his opponent closer - essentially an inverted version.
Dototsu (怒突, Do Totsu?, lit. Angry Charge) was first introduced - and last seen in the original Guilty Gear.
Would go on to be one of EX Axl's Special Attacks in the Guilty Gear XX series.
Rasho Sen (羅鐘旋, Ra Shō Sen?, lit. Demonic/Silk Bell Spinner) was first introduced in Guilty Gear X. Would later be localized as Spindle Spinner in Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign-, and gains a variant in the form of Winter Mantis (冬蟷螂, Fuyu Imojiri?) in Guilty Gear -Strive-.
The attack is much the same in the Xrd series, however instead of a blue projectile, Axl throws a triad of chains at his opponent's shins that wrap around them before Axl finishes the attack.
In Guilty Gear -STRIVE-, Axl sends out one of his sickles to tunnel through the ground, then pulls it back to strike his opponent's legs. If it hits, he follows up with a strong lariat that knocks the opponent down.Axl Bomber (アクセルボンバー, Akuseru Bonbā?) was first introduced in Guilty Gear X.
In its original incarnation, Axl sets himself ablaze while diving diagonally downwards.Hachi Subako (蜂巣箱, Hachi Su Bako?, lit. Beehive Box) was first introduced in Guilty Gear XX, and last seen in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R.
Axl puts up a defensive stance, using his connected scythes like a bo staff, then bats his opponent away. As EX Axl, this becomes a counter attack. This can then be followed up by Shiranami no Homura as either a Force Break for regular Axl, or as an Overdrive for EX Axl.Kokuu Geki (虚空撃, Kokū Geki?, lit. Void Strike) was first introduced in Guilty Gear XX Slash, and last seen in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R. Gains a variant in the form of Snail (蝸牛, Katatsumuri?) in Guilty Gear -Strive-.
Axl swings one of his sickles in a counter-clockwise circle, launching his opponent on contact. It can also be used as the final follow-up after Benten Gari, following Axl Bomber.Sparrowhawk Stance (鷂の構え, Haitaka no Kamae?) was first introduced in Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign-, and last seen in Rev 2.
Axl takes a stance where he spins his rear sickle behind him while aiming with the front one. While in this stance, Axl cannot move, crouch, jump or block.
Whistling Wind (虎落笛, Mogaribue?) was first introduced in the 1.33 patch update in Guilty Gear -Strive-.
Axl rapidly swings both of his sickles upwards, whipping up a half-screen-height whirlwind that travels a short distance in front of him. If his opponent is close to the whirlwind, it vacuums them closer, hitting up to 3 times. Holding the button gives the whirlwind an orange outline and makes a gust effect appear on the screen. Not only does the charged version increase the distance the whirlwind travels, but also improves the vacuum effect distance, deals up to double the hits and slightly increases the overall damage.
Shiranami no Homura (白波の焔, ?, lit. Blazing Whitecaps) was first introduced in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core, and last seen in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R. Exclusive to regular Axl.
After hitting the opponent with Hachi Subako, Axl extends both the blades of his sickles back out and pincer his opponent with a double upward strike, setting them on fire as he launches them.
Axl Bomber (アクセルボンバー, Akuseru Bonbā?) was first introduced in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core, and last seen in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R.
Axl launches himself upwards by flinging his sickles up. If it connects, his opponent bursts into flames.
Kyokusa Geki (曲鎖撃, Kyoku Sa Geki?, lit. Musical Chain Attack) was first introduced - and last seen in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R. Exclusive to EX Axl.
Instead of this being a follow-up to Rensen Geki, Axl swings the sickle in an upward arc. If it hits, the opponent gets launched and knocked towards Axl.
Dototsu (怒突, Do Totsu?, lit. Angry Charge) was first introduced in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus, and last seen in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R. Exclusive to EX Axl.
Axl rushes forward with a low profile, afterimages trailing him. If he hits the opponent, they get launched upwards, similarly to a Dust Attack - and can even be followed up with a Homing Jump under similar conditions.
Byakue Renshou (百重鎌焼, Byakue Ren Shō?, lit. Hundredfold Sickle Scorch) was first introduced in the first Guilty Gear.
Originally known as Hyakue Renshou, and later localized as Sickle Storm following Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign-.
In the original Guilty Gear, Axl's hurtbox shrinks down to his feet, and outright disappears at several points during the move's animation. Later games would give it more conventional full-body invincibility.
In Guilty Gear -STRIVE-, if used in the corner, it causes an Area Shift.
Yousou Renzan (鷹爪連斬, Yō Sō Ren Zan?, lit. Hawk Talon Consecutive Slashes) was first introduced in the original Guilty Gear, be omitted in the Guilty Gear X series, then appear throughout the Guilty Gear XX series as EX Axl.
Originally known as Yousou Renjin.
Shiranami no Homura (白波の焔, ?, lit. Blazing Whitecaps) was first introduced in Guilty Gear XX, and last seen in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R. Exclusive to EX Axl as of Λ Core Plus.
After hitting the opponent with Hachi Subako, Axl extends both the blades of his sickles back out and pincer his opponent with a double upward strike, setting them on fire as he launches them.
Shark Strike (鰄夜煌, Kairagi Yakō?, lit. Shark Nightglow) was first introduced in Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign- and last seen in Rev 2.
Axl does a Sickle Flash, then pulls the opponent back towards him, leaving them stunned for a moment.
One Vision (ワンヴィジョン, Wan Vijon?) was first introduced in Guilty Gear -Strive-.
Axl pumps his fist, shrouding himself with a purple aura for 5 seconds. If the same input is used again, Axl snaps his fingers on his rear hand - the background greys out and time freezes for the opponent for 2 seconds, allowing Axl to freely attack them. The second input can be used in the air and cancelled into after any attack, with the exception of Sickle Storm.
Rengoku Renzan (煉獄連斬, Rengoku Ren Zan?, lit. Purgatory Chain Slash) is Axl's first Instant Kill, only appearing in the original Guilty Gear. Replaced by Rensen Ougi: Midare Gami in Guilty Gear X.
Axl slides through his opponent, making the screen turn white. When it returns to normal, Axl's opponent has been completely engulfed in the chains from Axl's sickles, getting crushed to death before spinning out to the back end of the screen.Rensen Ougi: Midare Gami (鎌閃奥義・亂髪(みだれがみ), Ren Sen Ōgi: Midare Gami?, lit. Sickle Flash Secret Technique: Dishevelled Hair) is Axl's second Instant Kill, first appearing in Guilty Gear X, and last seen in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R. Replaced by Amphora Conflagration in Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign-.
Axl tosses his sickles to the ground, letting them make a large circle at his feet. If his opponent is within said circle, Axl's sickles barrage them from all angles, lifting them up with each hit - 24 in total, with the latter 13 hits rapidly striking them and holding them in the air. Afterwards, the chains explode, blowing the opponent up.Amphora Conflagration (鋺烈火, Kanamari Rekka?, lit. Metal Bowl Raging Fire) is Axl's third and final Instant Kill, first appearing in Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign- up to Rev 2.
