Chipp Zanuff/Commands

From Guilty Gear Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Unlike most characters who use a double jump, Chipp is able to do a third jump - a Triple Jump (三角飛び, Sandan Tobi?), which he can use to extend his aerial offense.

Sankaku-tobi (三角跳び, Sankaku Tobi?, lit. Triangle Jump) is a movement technique Chipp can use, exclusive to the Guilty Gear XX series. This would be unlisted in regular Chipp's movelist, however.

Sankaku-tobi
Chipp kicks off the wall, diving diagonally downwards. While diving, Chipp can cancel into any of his normal attacks. If Right is kept held down, the angle Chipp dives at is longer.

Chipp can't use Sankaku-tobi after doing a Triple Jump.

As EX Chipp, he can do it anywhere on the screen.

Wall Cling (壁張り付き, Heki Haritsuki?) is a movement technique Chipp can use, exclusive to the Guilty Gear Xrd series.

Wall Cling
While next to one of the far edges of the stage, Chipp can hold onto the wall for up to 3 seconds. From this position, he climb up and down the wall with Up or Down, jump off with Up Right/Right/Down Right, or drop off the wall with Left. As well as the movement on the wall, Chipp can use the following attacks:
  • Alpha Blade - Chipp does a diagonally downward version of Alpha Blade.
  • Kunai (クナイ, Kunai?) - Chipp throws a red-handled kunai diagonally downwards.
  • Genrou Zan - Chipp dives down towards his opponent, disappearing into a bunch of leaves. If he collides with them, he twists their neck, launching them a small distance.
  • Genyou Zan (幻朧斬, Gen Yō Zan?, lit. Phantom Hawk Slash) - Similar to Genrouzan, Genyouzan is strictly an anti-air, and Chipp disappears into a cluster of maple leaves instead of green ones.

Wall Run (壁走り, Heki Hashiri?) is a movement technique Chipp can use, exclusive to Guilty Gear -Strive-.

Wall Run
While at either edge of the stage, Chipp can quickly run up the wall until he reaches the top. From here, he cancel the run with Left or Down; he can also start his Wall Run after air-dashing into the corner. Additionally, Chipp can follow up with Wall Run Attack (壁走り攻撃, Heki Hashiri Kōgeki?), which mirror certain normal attacks while scaling the wall.

Alpha Blade (α ブレード, Arufa Burēdo?) is one of Chipp's signature Special Attacks, first introduced in the original Guilty Gear.

Chipp rushes forwards while ducking low, slashing his opponent's legs with his gauntlet blade and passes through to the other side of the screen. Starting with Guilty Gear X, Chipp can use Alpha Blade in the air.

GGXX

Between Guilty Gear XX & Xrd Rev 2, Chipp can follow up with Alpha Plus (α プラス, Arufa Purasu?), jabbing his elbow/blade with his back facing the screen. It can be difficult to land due to it activating when Alpha Blade's active distance ends, but it can create a little extra distance if it hits. He also has a Force Break version, which does a second Alpha Blade instead of the .

Additionally, in his EX form, Chipp can follow up with either Alpha Blade, Senshuu, Beta Blade or Gamma Blade up to 3 times in a row.

GGXrd

Alpha Plus on the wall
As well as having the grounded & aerial versions, Chipp can use Alpha Blade while holding onto the wall, which aims Chipp diagonally downwards instead of in a straight line.

Chipp officially gains diagonal versions following Guilty Gear -STRIVE-, which he can use both on the ground and in the air.

Beta Blade (β ブレード, Beta Burēdo?) is one of Chipp's staple Special Attacks, first introduced in the original Guilty Gear.

Chipp does a jumping uppercut using his gauntlet blade, which leaves a trail of blue energy. Starting with Guilty Gear X, Chipp can use Beta Blade in the air.

GGML

In the original Guilty Gear, Chipp can charge Beta Blade by inputting RightDownDown Right + hold Respect in place of Punch. At level 1, Beta Blade does 2 hits, knocking the opponent back. At level 2, Chipp rises slightly higher, and the attack does more damage. The level 3 version has Chipp do 2 Beta Blades - one that does up to 4 hits, the second doing just 1 final hit to cap off the combo.

GGXX

In his EX form, Chipp can follow up with either Alpha Blade, Senshuu, Beta Blade or Gamma Blade up to 3 times in a row.

Gamma Blade (γ ブレード, Gamma Burēdo?) was first introduced in the original Guilty Gear.

For the vast majority of appearances, Chipp creates an ethereal clone of himself that rushes forwards for a short distance. In the original Guilty Gear, if it hits the opponent, they get knocked down. As of Guilty Gear X, Chipp seals the opponent in place with a pentagonal seal for a brief moment, leaving them vulnerable. Once the seal breaks, the opponent drops to the floor.

GGXX

In his EX form, Gamma Blade doesn't paralyze opponents, rather knock them back. Additionally, Chipp can follow up with either Alpha Blade, Senshuu, Beta Blade or Gamma Blade up to 3 times in a row.

Guilty Gear -STRIVE-
Instead of trapping the opponent, Chipp sends out a shadow clone that runs full-screen to drive their front elbow into the opponent, causing a hard knockdown. Should the clone get hit, Chipp will take damage too.

Tsuyoshi-shiki Ten'i (毅式転移, Tsuyoshi-shiki Ten'i?, lit. Strong-Style Translocation) was first introduced in the original Guilty Gear, and last seen in Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2.

In its original appearance, Chipp does a hand seal, which makes him teleport forwards. Following Guilty Gear X, Tsuyoshi-shiki Ten-i gets 4 versions - one for each main attack button:
  • Punch - Short distance forward.
  • Kick - Behind the opponent.
  • Slash - Small distance backward.
  • Heavy Slash - Above opponent.
Only in the Guilty Gear XX series, Chipp gets a Dust version, which makes him teleport above-and-behind the opponent, which would be discontinued following Xrd -Sign-.

Tsuyoshi-shiki Meisai (毅式迷彩, Tsuyoshi Shiki Meisai?, lit. Strong-Style Camouflage) was first introduced in the original Guilty Gear, and last seen in Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2.

Chipp puffs his chest out, turning (partly) invisible for 8 seconds. If he gets hit, he comes out of the invisibility.

Sebone-ori (背骨折り, Sebone Ori?, lit. Backbreaker) was first introduced - and last seen in the original Guilty Gear.

Sebone-ori
Chipp clambers over the opponent, puts his knees on their back, then dropkicks them away, causing a hard knockdown.

Sakugankyaku (削岩脚, Sakugan Kyaku?, lit. Jackhammer Leg) was first introduced in the original Guilty Gear.

Chipp sticks his front leg out beneath him while tucking his other leg in, spinning around like a drill to attack the opponent as he falls.

Genrouzan (幻朧斬, Gen Rō Zan?, lit. Phantom Haze Slash) was first introduced in Guilty Gear X.

In its original appearances, Chipp jumps diagonally forward, only to disappear into a small scattering of leaves. If he's close to his opponent, he goes around behind them, then breaks their neck, launching them slightly upwards.

GGXX

Genrouzan You
Between Guilty Gear XX Λ Core and Plus R, Chipp can transition into Genrouzan You before he collides with his opponent, doing an anti-air slash.

GGXrd

Guilty Gear Xrd series (Wall Cling ver.)
As well as the grounded variation, Chipp can use Genrouzan while holding onto the wall, which locks onto the opponent.

GGST

Guilty Gear -STRIVE-
In Guilty Gear -STRIVE-, Chipp changes the attack so that he creates a shadow clone to help attack the opponent by launching them up, then doing a crossing-Alpha Blade, then finishes the attack with an explosion.

Resshou (冽掌, Resshō?, lit. Cold Palm) was first introduced in Guilty Gear X.

Chipp steps forward, thrusting his front palm into his opponent. In the Guilty Gear X & XX series, Chipp's fist is shrouded in pale red energy; following the Guilty Gear Xrd series, the aura changes from red to blue, with a water-like effect. Additionally, in the Xrd series, he sets his opponent on fire. Chipp can follow up Resshou with Rokusai (麓砕, Roku Sai?, lit. Mountain-Foot Smash), where he crouches down to sweep his opponent's legs with a roundhouse kick, knocking them back. After Resshou or Rokusai, Chipp can follow-up with Senshuu (穿踵, Sen Shū?, lit. Piercing Heel), having him leap forward for a hammer kick, causing a ground bounce. Additionally, EX Chipp in the Guilty Gear XX series can not only use Senshuu as a regular Special Attack, but he can also follow it up with either Alpha Blade, Beta Blade or Gamma Blade up to 3 times in a row.

Shuriken (手裏剣, Shuriken?, lit. Throwing Star) was first introduced in Guilty Gear XX.

Originally Chipp's aerial taunt.

Chipp throws a 4-pointed shuriken diagonally downwards with his front hand.

Shinkirou (蜃気楼, Shinkirō?, lit. Mirage) was first introduced in Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign- and last seen in Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2.

Shinkirou
Chipp slowly turns around, then flings himself diagonally upwards for a kick using his front leg, green leaves scattering around him while he rises. If it connects on a standing opponent, it merely nudges them back. However, if used on an aerial enemy, they get knocked back to the far end of the screen.

Genrouzan You (幻朧斬・陽, Gen Rō Zan: Yō?, lit. Phantom Haze Slash: Yang) was first introduced in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core, and last seen in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R.

Genrouzan You
Before Genrouzan connects, Chipp can transition into Genrouzan You, where he launches himself diagonally upwards while turning around, slashing his opponent while leaving behind a trail of pink ki. If it hits the opponent, they drop straight to the floor. As EX Chipp, he can also use Genrouzan You after Alpha Blade, Beta Blade or Gamma Blade.

Alpha Plus (α プラス, Arufa Purasu?) was first introduced in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core, and last seen in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R. Exclusive to regular Chipp.

Alpha Plus
Chipp does a second Alpha Blade, which causes a wall bounce if the opponent is hit in the air.

Beta Blade (β ブレード, Beta Burēdo?) was first introduced in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core, and last seen in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R. Exclusive to regular Chipp.

Beta Blade
Chipp does 2 Beta Blades - not unlike his level 3 Beta Blade in the original game, dealing 101 points of damage across 4 hits while launching the opponent.

Gamma Blade (γ ブレード, Gamma Burēdo?) was first introduced in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core, and last seen in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R. Exclusive to regular Chipp.

Gamma Blade
Chipp sends out an ethereal clone of himself, which travels just shy of screen-length. If it connects, the clone creates a seal that halts the opponent's movements for 2 seconds - afterwards, the opponent drops to the floor.

Banki Messai (万鬼滅砕, Ban Ki Messai?, lit. Destroyer of 10,000 Demons) was first introduced in the original Guilty Gear.

In the vast majority of appearances Chipp barrages his opponent with myriad close-range strikes, ending the combo with a double Beta Blade.

In the Guilty Gear Xrd series, the strikes would go from rapid, individual hits to smoother, more animated strikes.

In Guilty Gear -STRIVE-, Chipp summons a pair of shadow clones along with a weasel to help attack, finishing the combo with a unified palm strike. If used in the corner, it causes an Area Shift.

Zansei Rouga (斬星狼牙, Zan Sei Rō Ga?, lit. Star-Slashing Wolf Fang) was first introduced in Guilty Gear X.

Chipp jumps diagonally from wall to wall, slashing his opponent diagonally on his way up. The final attack has him do a falling chop, sending his opponent back down to the floor. In Guilty Gear -STRIVE-, Chipp adds a lightning bolt as he rises, which he splits in two during the falling chop.

Ryuu Yanagi (龍柳, Ryū Yanagi?, lit. Dragon Willow) was first introduced in Guilty Gear XX, and last seen in Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2.

Originally known as Hayoku Rakuho (破翼落鳳, Ha Yoku Raku Hō?, lit. Wing-Clipping Feng Fall) in the Guilty Gear XX series.

Chipp throws a barrage of 12 kunai, spreading out 6 at a time.

Zenten Zenchi Musou Kijin (全天全地無双鬼刃, Zenten Zenchi Musō Kijin?, lit. All of Creation Mowed Down by the Demon's Blade) is Chipp's first Instant Kill, first and only appearing in the original Guilty Gear.

Zenten Zenchi Musou Kijin
Chipp rushes through his opponent, then drives his blade through their chest, splitting an ethereal hannya mask.

Delta End (ディエルタエンド, Dieruta Endo?) is Chipp's second Instant Kill, first introduced in Guilty Gear X and last seen in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R.

Delta End
Chipp creates 5 shadow clones that burst into flames, forming a pentagram. Should any of them connect with the opponent, the real Chipp travels between the flames to form the pentagram's shape, then makes it explode while crouched down as a Sanskrit symbol appears in the middle.

Raisetsudan (雷楔断, Rai Setsu Dan?, lit. Lightning Lynchpin Judgement) is Chipp's third and final Instant Kill, first introduced in Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign- and last seen in Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2.

Chipp starts with the attack with Resshou. If it connects, Chipp turns his body in circles to create afterimages as he throws a barrage of three-bladed shuriken at his opponent, launching them upwards. As they get launched, Chipp does hand seals to make a bolt of lighting crash down on his opponent, finishing them off.
