Concierge is a minor non-playable character who runs the online modes in Guilty Gear -Strive-.

Story

Upon picking the "Online Match" option in Strive, Concierge gives you a brief tutorial on how the Online Lobbies of The Tower work. He'll introduce himself and have you create your custom Avatar and select a matchmaking region. Afterwards, you'll be challenged by a fellow avatar, where Concierge informs you about challenging people at Duel Stations. You'll be forced to fight a computer-controlled Sol Badguy, which, possibly after more matches against other players, the game will rank your performance in and place you in one of 10 floors. Concierge will talk to you whenever you rank up or down a floor, and will give useful tips about lobbies and avatars if the player talks to him in either the Tower or the Park.

Design

Concierge is based off the customizable in-game avatars. His appearance is an older man, meant to be a host with hospitality. While he may look like the avatars, it is impossible to have your custom avatar match Concierge's appearance. His suit and white hair are unable to be worn by the player. It is also impossible to give your avatar a mustache like Concierge has.

Personality

Concierge has a polite demeanor to the guests of The Tower. He has a large vocabulary, which mostly shines during his lines for when you rank up and down between floors. He seems to have a bitter-sweet relationship with players moving up in floors, saying "it sure gets lonelier as you rise in strength."[1] His way of speaking is consistent with a majority of the Strive UI text, with many, somewhat-impersonal, words of advice spoken almost as poetry.

Trivia

  • The word "Concierge" originates from France and means "a usually multilingual hotel staff member who handles luggage and mail, makes reservations, and arranges tours" or "a resident in an apartment building especially in France who serves as doorkeeper, landlord's representative, and janitor."[2] Interestingly enough, during the Online Tutorial, Concierge will say "Très bien" to the player after they customize their avatar.
  • It is unknown if Concierge is his actual name or simply his job.
