Kaneto Shiozawa

Toshikazu Shiozawa (塩沢 敏, Shiozawa Toshikazu), more commonly known by his stage name Kaneto Shiozawa, was a Japanese voice actor who played Zato-ONE and Dr. Baldhead in the original Guilty Gear and Guilty Gear X.[1] The role of Baldhead's successor, Faust, would be played by Takashi Kondō starting in Guilty Gear X. After Shiozawa's death, the role of Zato-ONE/Eddie would be played by Takehito Koyasu. Kondō would also play the role of Baldhead in Guilty Gear XX Drama CD Black. Shiozawa's death was also a contributing factor to Zato not appearing as a playable character in the Guilty Gear XX series.[2]

Biography

Shiozawa graduated from Nihon University Second Senior High School, where he learned to perform in its art department. On May 10th, 2000, Shiozawa unfortunately passed away due to a traumatic brain injury believed to be caused by a fall down a flight of stairs in his home.[3]

Other Major Roles

Shiozawa was a very prolific voice actor during his time. Some of his best known performances include: Rei in Fist of the North Star, Gray Fox in Metal Gear Solid, Vega (Claw) in Street Fighter, and Luke Skywalker in a 1992 Japanese dub release of Star Wars[3].
