Toshikazu Shiozawa (塩沢 敏, Shiozawa Toshikazu), more commonly known by his stage name Kaneto Shiozawa, was a Japanese voice actor who played Zato-ONE and Dr. Baldhead in the original Guilty Gear and Guilty Gear X[1]. The role of Baldhead's successor, Faust, would be played by Takashi Kondō starting in Guilty Gear X. After Shiozawa's death, the role of Zato-ONE/Eddie would be played by Takehito Koyasu. Kondō would also play the role of Baldhead in Guilty Gear XX Drama CD Black. Some speculate on whether Shiozawa's death was what dictated Zato's character dying and being taken over by Eddie in Guilty Gear XX; however there has never been any official statement to support this, and is unlikely due to Zato dying in several of his endings from before Shiozawa's death.[2]

Biography

Shiozawa graduated from Nihon University Second Senior High School, where he learned to perform in its art department. On May 10th, 2000, Shiozawa unfortunately passed away due to a traumatic brain injury believed to be caused by a fall down a flight of stairs in his home[3].

Other Major Roles

Shiozawa was a very prolific voice actor during his time. Some of his best known performances include: Rei in Fist of the North Star, Gray Fox in Metal Gear Solid, Vega (Claw) in Street Fighter, and Luke Skywalker in a 1992 Japanese dub release of Star Wars[3].
