Testament's Dolls are a unique mechanic exclusive to the Guilty Gear XX series.

Doll stock

After using their air throw or Master of Puppet , Testament gains a straw doll with a nail through its head and holding a red orb.

These dolls alter the effects of HITOMI & Zeinest, using 1 doll per input;

  • HITOMI's tree gets bigger and poisons the opponent.
  • Zeinest's web keeps the opponent locked in place for 2 seconds.

Stain (ステイン, Sutein?) is a unique status effect that Testament can afflict in Guilty Gear -Strive-.

If Testament hits their opponent with Unholy Diver, even if it gets blocked, the Stain state is inflicted, indicated by black/indigo aura, which lingers for 6 seconds. Within that time, any of Testament's normal attacks - as well as Arbiter Sign will make the aura go from indigo to red, adding an extra attack that launches the opponent on a clean hit, or take chip damage as normal if blocked; the opponent will be taken out of the Stain state if they are hit regardless.

Phantom Soul (ファントムソウル, Fantomu Souru?) was first introduced in the original Guilty Gear, and last seen in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R.

Replaced by Grave Reaper in Guilty Gear -Strive-.

Testament throws out a skull-shaped projectile. In its original appearance, the skull floats up-and-down after travelling a short distance, with no other properties. As of Guilty Gear X, the skull floats in a low arc after being thrown. Testament also gains a Kick version, which travels in a high arc. If it hits, Testament's opponent has a curse placed on them for 8 seconds, where their contracted partners attack the opponent in the following ways:
Crow
  • Throws a spread-shot of feathers.
  • Divebombs into its opponent horizontally or diagonally.
Succubus
  • Strikes the opponent from above with its own scythe.
If Testament taunts while the seal is active, it will delay the next attack.

EXE Beast (エグゼビースト, Eguze Bīsuto?) was was first introduced in the original Guilty Gear, and last seen in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R, where it would be replaced by Arbiter Sign in Guilty Gear -Strive-.

GGML

EXE Beast
Testament bows down, letting EXE Beast - a purple sludge monster - bite its opponent's legs. In the original Guilty Gear, EXE Beast attacks from both sides of the opponent.

GGX & XX

Following Guilty Gear X, both versions were separated: the Slash version tracks the opponent to strike from behind, while the Heavy Slash version travels a set distance to attack from the front. As EXE Beast is a strictly ground-base technique, the opponent can simply jump up to avoid the attack. Failing to do so, they still have an option to just stand and block as it is not a low attack like its movement suggests.

Grave Digger (グレイヴディガー, Gureivu Digā?) was first introduced in the original Guilty Gear, and last seen in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R.

Testament leaps forwards, striking the opponent overhead with their scythe.

In the original Guilty Gear, a blue/purple centipede-like creature replaces the blade of Testament's scythe as they descend. Following Guilty Gear X, Testament's blade morphs in the shape of a screaming skull as they swing their scythe around.

Grave Digger is one of Testament's more valued special attacks for more direct head on damage and aggressive approaches. Its large hitbox and mobility allows it great versatility, for attacking crouching opponents with an unblockable overhead, and to get in damage while closing distance immediately on foes. Because of Testament's lack of further aggressive attacks, Grave Digger can become a liability and can be anticipated if the player cannot mix up and become unpredictable to throw foes off track.

Panzer Centipede (パンツァーセンチピード, Pantsā Senchipīdo?) was first introduced - and last seen in the original Guilty Gear.

Panzer Centipede
Testament spikes a blue ball of energy down at their feet. After 2 seconds, a blue, demonic centipede wriggles its way out of the ground and floats up, flailing around like a fish. Both the energy ball and the beast are unblockable.

Dimension Scythe (ダイメンションサイス, Daimenshon Saisu?) was first introduced - and last seen in the original Guilty Gear.

Dimension Scythe
Testament slams the bladed end of their scythe into the ground, making it reappear a short way in front and arcs over to jab the opponent's feet. If it hits, the opponent will get pinned in place for 3 seconds - afflicted with the one-off "Capture" status; unable to jump out, and Testament's attacks will not free them.

Warrant (ウォレント, U~orento?) was first introduced in Guilty Gear X, and last seen in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R.

Testament taunts his opponent by holding his arms out, letting his scythe stand in place for a second too. If the opponent hits Testament with any level attack, he dissipates into a pool of blood, teleports behind his opponent, then reforms to strike, poisoning his opponent for 8 seconds, unless the opponent hits Testament again.
Lucht Warrant
Introduced in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus for EX Testament , Testament gains the alternate version of Lucht Warrant (ルフトウォレント, Ruhuto U~orento?), which makes Warrant a teleport instead of a counter; the LeftDownDown Left + Slash/DownDown + Punch has Testament teleport forward, while the RightDownDown Right + Slash/DownDown + Kick has Testament teleport directly behind their opponent. Like the regular Warrant, EX Testament's Lucht Warrant poisons the opponent on contact - regular Testament's doesn't, however.

Badlands (バッドランズ, Baddoranzu?) was first introduced in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core, and last seen in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R.

Badlands
Introduced as a Force Break for EX Testament as alternative to Grave Digger, Badlands has Testament spin his scythe around twice, flinging their opponent around to the opposite side of the screen.

HITOMI was first introduced in Guilty Gear XX, and last seen in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R.

Testament's hair and skirt flutter out for a second, discreetly placing a trap. Should the opponent walk over where Testament placed the trap, a small tree with a demonic face sprouts up out the ground, launching the opponent.

If Testament has a doll stocked, the tree will grow larger and poison the opponent on contact.

Should Testament use HITOMI a second time with a trap already set, the previous one will sprout up first.

Zeinest (ゼイネスト, Zeinesuto?) was first introduced in Guilty Gear XX, and last seen in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R.

Testament slashes the top of their wrist with their scythe, then swings it upwards, setting a trap where he stands.
Zeinest's web
Should the opponent walk where Testament set the Zeinest trap, they will get trapped in the web for a second, then get launched. The trap otherwise lasts for 10 seconds. If Testament has a doll stocked, the web traps the opponent for 3 seconds, imprinting a purple skeletal creature on top of the web.

Grave Reaper (グレイヴリーパ, Gureivu Rīpā?) was first introduced in Guilty Gear -Strive-, replacing Phantom Soul.

Testament scrapes the blade of their scythe across the ground, flinging out a skull-shaped projectile of blood. The Slash version goes in a straight line, while both the grounded and aerial Heavy Slash versions launch it diagonally - upwards on the ground, downwards in the air. Holding the button makes the skull travel further.
File:GGST Testament Succubus.png
One of Testament's Succubi
After the skull reaches its full distance, a succubus will be placed, acting as a marker for both Unholy Diver & Possession. The succubus will disappear if either are used.

Unholy Diver (アンホーリーダイバー, Anhōrī Daibā?) was first introduced in Guilty Gear -Strive-.

Unholy Diver
Testament commands their crow to swoop in a straight line. If Testament has marked an area with a Succubus via Grave Reaper, the crow will launch itself towards said Succubus, and turn back into it's own Succubus form to perform an additional attack with the other Succubus. If the opponent gets hit by the crow, they will be afflicted with the Stain state.

Possession (ポゼッション, Pozesshon?) was first introduced in Guilty Gear -Strive-.

Possession
Testament takes a stance, then disappears into darkness, teleporting on the spot. If they have placed a Succubus with Grave Reaper, they will teleport to that instead unless the button is held.

Arbiter Sign (アービターサイン, Ābitā Sain?) was first introduced in Guilty Gear -Strive-, replacing EXE Beast.

Instead of gliding across the floor, Arbiter Sign has Testament make EXE Beast burst vertically out of the ground (Slash) or in the air via portal (Heavy Slash). If this connects with the opponent, regardless if they are guarding or not, it triggers the Stain state's attack.

Grave Digger (グレイヴディガー, Gureivudigā?) was first introduced in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core, and last seen in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R. Exclusive to regular Testament

Phantom Soul (ファントムソウル, Fantomu Souru?) was first introduced - and last seen in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R. Exclusive to regular Testament.

Guilty Gear X & XX series
Testament throws out a skull-shaped projectile, which slowly flies towards his opponent. If it connects, the curse lasts for 17 seconds instead of 8.

Nightmare Circular (ナイトメアサーキュラー, Naitomea Sākyurā?) was first introduced in the first Guilty Gear, and last seen in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R.

Testament creates a portal in front of themselves, which releases a large skeleton made of blood. If it connects with the opponent, they will get poisoned for 8 seconds. Only in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R, Nightmare Circular gains a Slash variant which delays the attack by 4 seconds.

Master of Puppet (マスターオブパペット, Masutā obu Papetto?) was first introduced in Guilty Gear XX, and last seen in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R.

Master of Puppet
Testament turns their scythe into a large red key that launches itself towards the opponent, which turns 90 degrees to strike a second time. If it hits the opponent without blocking, Testament gains 3 dolls.

Calamity One (カラミティ・ワン, Karamiti Wan?) was first introduced in Guilty Gear -Strive-.

Calamity One
Testament calls forth EXE Beast, which has grown to a significant size to bite down on the opponent, launching them high on contact. If used in the corner, it causes an Area Shift.

Soul Vise (ソウルヴァイス, Souru Vaisu?) is Testament's first Instant Kill, only appearing in the original Guilty Gear. Replaced by Seventh Sign in Guilty Gear X.

Soul Vise
Testament grabs their opponent, then slams them sharply to the ground - enough strength to expel the soul out of their opponent, appearing as a skull that dissipates like mist.

Seventh Sign (セヴンスサイン, Sevensu Sain?) is Testament's second - and last Instant Kill, first appearing in Guilty Gear X up to Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R.

Seventh Sign
Testament splits their scythe into 2 smaller ones, doing a cross slash. If it connects, a large bed appears in front of them with their opponent on the top. At their feet is a succubus, who jabs their rear hand into the opponent's stomach, hitting them multiple times until their opponent lays lifeless on the bed.
