Story

Red Battle

In 2173, during the events of the Crusades, I-No is in a run down village. A few men approach I-No and try to persuade her to spend time with them. During the conversation a gear appears in the village. The men ask for her to lend her power to save them, but I-No calls them pigs and lets the men die to the gear.

Shortly after, Ky Kiske is patrolling on an airship when receives a report on the gear attack and prepares to investigate. Sol Badguy leaves during the planning stages, which leads Ky to have to hurry and follow. In the village they find everyone dead, except for I-No, who is acting as a normal villager. Sol doubts I-No from the start, but Ky scolds him and they return to the airship with I-No.

On the airship, Ky doubts his leadership while conversing with another soldier. Ky worries that he is just trying to be a hero and that they should not have stopped at the town. The soldier disagrees with Ky, saying that the Holy Order is humanity's last hope, and they should never abandon anyone. Ky thanks him and is left to ruminate on the conversation.

At the airship’s infirmary, Sol goes to find I-No, as he finds her suspicious. He threatens the officer for the keys then enters the infirmary to confront I-No. At first I-No plays innocent, but then eventually insults Sol and a fight ensues. Ky receives a report of a fire in the infirmary and quickly goes to investigate once he learns Sol was responsible. When Ky arrives at the infirmary, I-No once again plays innocent, claiming Sol attacked her, in order to make him look bad. Ky has Sol taken to the brig and apologizes to I-No. After returning to his office, Ky speaks with another officer, and admits that he also finds I-No suspicious, and knows Sol wouldn’t attack without reason, but he says can’t let Sol keep breaking the rules, regardless. He orders someone to keep an eye on her.

Right after the conversation, an emergency call comes from Rome. The city is under attack by three Megadeath class gears and 200 large class gears. Headquarters tells Ky’s group to wait for reinforcements, but Ky decides to go lend aid regardless, saying that the knights are the hope of mankind. Ky doesn’t make anyone else go, letting his army volunteer if they wish to help, claiming he will go alone if he has to.

Before leaving for Rome, I-No approaches Ky to ask about the alarm. Ky informs her that they are heading to Rome, and asks that she leave for her own safety. I-No refuses to leave and offers to help, but asks for compensation, in which she then implies she wants something suggestive as a reward. This leaves Ky very hesitant, but I-No uses the number of people that are in danger in the city to force him to agree.

As the airship reaches Rome, Ky and the volunteers prepare to help the city. Ky feels angry with himself, feeling as if he is leading the soldiers to suicide, even if he knows they willingly chose to fight with him.

In Rome, the knights are trying to save the surviving civilians. Kliff Undersn promises reinforcements, but they are still too far away to help in time. Despite Ky being told he is at his limit and needs to withdraw, he refuses to retreat until he knows everyone is safe, mentioning he cannot find I-No, and asks for fifteen more minutes. One of the officers goes to find Sol, and asks him to help Ky.

Ky is still fighting, but on his deathbed, being taken by his wounds by the time Sol finds him. Ky asks Sol to take over the Order after Kliff is no longer commander. Sol tells Ky to shut up, and that leading the Order is going to be his job. Ky, knowing he’s dying, makes Sol promise to lead. Once Ky dies, Sol is left yelling out his name in despair. Sol keeps his promise and picks up the mantle of Commander after Kliff. I-No finds it hilarious that Ky died looking for her. As humanity crumbled, I-No wandered around until she eventually found That Man.

Night of the Living Doll

Zappa finds himself in a haunted house without any light. Once he finds a way to illuminate the area, he is freaked out by the incredibly realistic dolls in the house. He begins to wonder why the dolls are there and feels bad for kicking one. Zappa begins to investigate one of the finished dolls, admiring the work on it, and commenting on its blond hair. He also comments about the doll’s lack of soul. The doll suddenly opens its eyes and glares at Zappa. Zappa is overcome with fear and loses consciousness.

Zappa wakes up, screaming about his fear of dogs. He finds himself in a moldy bedroom with the house’s guard dog. He sees the dog as proof that someone lives in the house, then notices the dog chewing on something. Zappa goes to see what the dog had only to have the dog drop an arm. He quickly realizes it’s a doll’s arm. He tries to thank the dog, even though he didn’t want it, but notices the dog is gone, despite the door being closed. Zappa comments about how strange the house is and goes to leave, but hears footsteps and instead goes to hide. One of the Doll’s appears with black blood running from where it’s arm should be, demanding Zappa return it’s arm. Zappa calls out for help, then begins running.

As Zappa flees, he sees two swords fly through the air past him. Zappa quickly goes into one of the rooms to hide, but finds a large mirror. He approaches the mirror, and sees a white figure behind his reflection, but finds no one there when he turns around. He looks back in the mirror and finds more white shadows behind him, now with faces. Zappa panics and breaks the mirror. He then goes to close the windows, commenting on the strong winds, but realizes there are no windows in the room. The wind becomes stronger, causing Zappa to fall to his knees as objects in the room fly towards him.

Zappa cries out for help again, and scrambles to his feet when he hears something at the door. The doll bangs on the door, trying to get Zappa to come out. Zappa barricades the door with furniture, but moves away and lets go of the door once a candlestick flies into the door next to him.

The doll appears in the room, bleeding from more places with an indescribable expression. Zappa feels terror until he sees some of the broken mirror, then realizes he won’t let himself die to some “already-dead guy.” Furniture starts flying at Zappa, but he throws himself at just the right time that the shards of glass hit the doll. He then runs and tries to find an exit. Once he escapes, he turns around to find the building engulfed in flames. All he can hear is slight screaming coming from inside.

Zappa is left thinking about the strange house. He thinks about the hatred needed to make the doll, and says that he can still hear the doll’s footsteps before sleeping. He wakes up to find his pillow covered in “Black blood” and fears he has been chased by the “doll.” Suddenly, Robo-Ky appears and demands Zappa pay him back for the house. Raoh then appears and says he won’t leave even a shell of his soul.
