Joker Trick is Johnny's only known Instant Kill, which first appeared in Guilty Gear X.

In Guilty Gear -Strive-, it was retooled into an Overdrive.

Overview

In Guilty Gear X and XX, Johnny throws a card at the enemy. When it hits, it traps the enemy inside a spinning life size card with a portrait of the victim in distress on it. As the card stops spinning, Johnny cuts it in half diagonally and the card, and the victim disappears.

In Xrd -Revelator-, Johnny throws the Joker card to the opponent, and dashes with it at the same speed. As the card reaches his opponent, he slashes both the card and his opponent. Nothing appears to happen at first, but when Johnny sheathes his katana, the opponent falls down to the ground.

In Guilty Gear -Strive-, Joker Trick is retooled to become an Overdrive. Johnny throws a card forward across the screen. If the card hits the opponent, they will seemingly be turned into a card (the suit and rank of which is dependent on the character the opponent is playing as), have the card transformed into a stylized Joker card with inverted colors, and then be cut in half by Johnny.

Details

In Guilty Gear -Strive-, the card that the opponent turns into when hit is dependent on what character they are.[1]

Trivia

In Strive, Sol becomes a Queen of Clubs most likely as a reference to the character's close association with Freddy Mercury and the band Queen.

Happy Chaos is the only one to be turned into a Joker card with non-inverted colors before being cut, referencing his chaotic nature.
