― Asuka R♯ to Asuka R. Kreutz[src]

Asuka R♯ is a playable character in the Guilty Gear series, appearing in Guilty Gear -Strive-. He is an almost exact duplicate of That Man, a scientist who created the Gears and has been accused for starting a hundred-year war known as the Crusades.

Design

While similar in appearance to Asuka R. Kreutz in design, Asuka R# features some minor designs differences that set him apart from the original. Mainly in colouring. R# dons a similar Haori to that of Asuka, though instead of a dark teal, his is a vibrant mojo red. This goes for the rest of the outfit too, with any teal colours being changed to this same Mojo red, bar his cloak, which is instead coloured to be all white. His Cassok, originally featuring a turquoise cross, has been changed to orange instead. Though, the outer lining remains the same. His Rose Cross-esque pendant has also has been changed from silver and red, to gold and turquoise. The second string of his belt is changed to be orange instead of purple. R#'s most noticeable change in features, outside of the outfit change, would be his head and face, which holds the most changes. While Asuka himself has silver-white hair, golden yellow eyes and five vibrant red wings over his right eye, R# possesses cream coloured hair, a teal green left eye and 5 bright pink wings surrounding his eye. The final change to R#'s appearance is the staff containing the Tome Of Origin. While the original Asuka's staff has gold rings, with silver hands on the end and a bright purple outer edge, R#'s swaps these colours around, with the rings being silver, the hands being gold and the rings being a bright green.

Overall, R#'s appearance shares a much stronger resemblance to Asuka's design in the story mode for Guilty Gear -Strive-. Potentially, this decision could have been made to throw people off during the reveal, to make his arcade mode that much more interesting once it was released, with the player being forced into the colour 2 palette, therefore playing as Asuka, instead of R#.

Personality

Asuka R♯ is nearly an exact copy of Asuka R. Kreutz otherwise known as "That Man". He shares the thoughts, memories, ideals, and nearly exact personality traits. The main key difference being that he is specifically programmed by Asuka to be more socially active, and also lack a moral compass meaning he is unable to tell right from wrong. This is so he is not held back by the same feelings of guilt and self-loathing thoughts that currently plague the mind of Asuka. Incidentally, this allowed Asuka R♯ to grow into his own person coming around to having interests and hobbies of his own and finding happiness. However, he also comes to realize this had less to do with himself and more to do with Asuka's internal struggles that he lacked emotional understanding of. He does question the nature of his existence and why Asuka created him, but he does not resent him for doing so. Asuka R♯ does care a lot for his creator and spends a great deal of time trying to show Asuka why life is still worth living even after all he's done.[4]

Story

Background

An artificial human created by Asuka R. Kreutz, also known as "That Man."

Their biological properties are essentially the same, and he retains Asuka R. Kreutz's memories. However, his somewhat elevated sense of curiosity leads him to a different mindset than the original Asuka R. Kreutz.

His scientific knowledge and technical skills are comparable to the original, meaning he would be capable of creating new artificial humans himself. The third subject Asuka encounters in the simulation, however, has no physical form and only exists within the simulation.[4]

Currently, he is gathering experimental data on Earth for Asuka R. Kreutz's new research he is conducting from outer space, the Battle Method Turing test.
