Ming Wei is a minor character who briefly appears in Guilty Gear -Strive-. Attending the G4 Summit, he is a bodyguard of the Chinese Federation Prime minister.

Design

Ming Wei is a tall, slender man who wears an all black suit and tie at all times he is shown. His hair is cut neatly, with a long ponytail that stretches down to his knees, tied with a red hairband. On his hip, Wei wears some sort of red ribbon that hangs down towards his ankles. He appears to be of Chinese descent. Additionally, Ming wei has small red markings on the edges of his eyes, somewhat resembling a Kabuki mask. Said markings can be seen best in his concept art material.

Personality

Ming Wei is a loyal and honest bodyguard who is willing to put his life on the line to protect the Chinese Federation Prime Minister. It can also be assumed he is a rather brave man, as he did not show any fear when confronting Happy Chaos and his guards.

Story

Ming Wei's Entrance.jpg

Ming Wei's first appearance was in the story mode of guilty gear strive when Happy Chaos first invades the white house. Initially he remains on the sidelines paying close attention to what the perpetrator's plans are, only to leap into action as Chaos's guards begin to threaten the other members of the G4 summit. He teleported onto the meeting table and protected the other politicians from some number of bullet shots, only to be caught off guard and shot in the side of his torso by a possessed Stryper, causing him to collapse. Ming Wei remains on this table until Daryl manages to trick Happy Chaos into allowing many of them to leave. In a later scene, it is shown that Ming Wei survived this shot.

Abilities

As a status of bodyguard, it can be assumed that Ming Wei is considered strong enough to be able to protect his leaders. It can be also assumed that Ming Wei holds some magic capabilities as he is able to teleport, as well as deflect bullets shot by Happy Chaos's guards.

Trivia

  • In the scene after Daryl and the other members of the G4 summit manage to escape, in which Ming Wei is shown sitting up and alive, he does not appear to be undergoing any medical procedures, implying that he was not critically injured.
  • Despite being present in the white house meeting room for the majority of the game's story mode, Ming Wei is noticeably the only character who was part of the G4 summit meeting that is absent from the White House Reborn stage that was added in a DLC update alongside the playable character Testament
  • Ming Wei is included in the 25th anniversary guilty gear artbook, featured on page 81 with previously unreleased concept artwork. Interestingly, within the artbook, Ming Wei's name is spelt as "Mingwei" as if it was one name.
