Japanese Colony, usually shortened to just the Colony, is a recurring stage and major location in the Guilty Gear series. There are several "colonies" in different major countries around the world, but only the name of one of them is known: the colony of Miyabi, located near the Mediterranean Sea[1] in the United Kingdoms of Illyria.[2] Ogre Valley is part of this colony.

The birthplace of May, Baiken and Anji Mito, it also serves as Chipp Zanuff's ninja training ground.

In Guilty Gear, the nighttime stage has a dirt floor with two big bonsai-like trees. A pagoda stands above a rocky foundation on the left side, and besides it, a giant statue of a cloaked skeleton with a bead necklace. Two giant ropes surround the momnument, tied up in a large pillar behind yet another, smaller pagoda on the right corner.

In Guilty Gear X, a traditional building with a cloister—apparently raised on stilts or piles—and artwork adorning its walls, of which the figure of a tiger is the closest, is connected by a small wooden bridge to a cobblestone path and stairs, leading off-screen, surrounded by vegetation. The path has a myōjin torii gate with kirin statues and 寿 (kotobuki?, lit. longevity) written on a sign. In the background, the statue of a muscular, long-haired male is holding up a bridge high in the air with several torii. Set in autumn, the sunset gives it an orange tint.

Guilty Gear Petit's simplified version has the background bridge and statue replaced by a statue of young Kliff Undersn. In Guilty Gear XX, it is set at nighttime and ghostly figures pass by, dispersing upon passing the gateway, as an onmyōji salutes them. Guilty Gear Slash is a foggy afternoon variant, with a lantern added to the pathway.

In Guilty Gear Isuka the stage appears to be set during a tree-carving contest at night. The place is high up in the air, with a dense canopy of trees in the background. These massive trees have human figures with elongated ears carved on them, seemingly still in production, sustained by wooden beams, right next to a metal crane. The floor upon which people stand is a wooden platform, equipped with a water mill; two large torches and many paper lanterns illuminate the area. Two crowds—with red clothing on the right and blue on the left—stand on the foreground of the two main carvings.

In Guilty Gear XX Λ Core, it is set at night on a bridge composed of many adorned blocks held by metal plates and ropes. A large wooden pillar, perhaps a gateway, stands in the right side of the screen, with many ofuda scattered on it. In the background, another bridge flows, with usa torii gates and a wire of lanterns, and leads into a small, roofed structure on the far left. Behind the bridges, a large cherry tree with ropes tied to it stands tall. In the background, a pagoda stands atop the vegetation.
