A.B.A/Commands

From Guilty Gear Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Sacrifice Mode (諸刃モード, Moroha Mōdo?, lit. Double-edged Mode) is a unique state A.B.A can enter in the Guilty Gear XX series.

This would be repackaged as Jealous Rage (憤嫉モード, Funshi Mōdo?, lit. Envy Mode) in Guilty Gear -Strive-.

Sacrifice Mode state

A.B.A can enter Sacrifice Mode via Bonding or Injecting* (Uses 1 Blood Pack). EX A.B.A, however, is permanently in this state; the properties of Bonding have also been changed to compensate, now being a Force Break that refills a large chunk of her health.

While in Sacrifice Mode, Paracelsus' head turns from the round coin-like shape to the ram skull of Flament Nagel. Functionally, A.B.A's attack power is increased and gains the ability to run. However, while in Sacrifice Mode, A.B.A takes damage with every attack she lands. She also gains access the following Attacks: Blunder, Engorgement, Eradication, Judgement and Evidence: Destruction (Arrival).

Sacrifice Mode runs on a timer, which lasts for a total of 80 seconds without landing an attack; each attack that connects with the opponent shreds a small chunk off the timer.

To exit Sacrifice Mode, the timer for it needs to run out, or she can use Bonding or Displacement to exit early.

Jealousy gauge; top: Normal, bottom: Jealous Rage
Jealous Rage is functionally similar to her original Sacrifice Mode - however, there are a few changes:
  • Paracelsus no longer outright turns into Flament Nagel, rather his face turns black with sludge and has a very distorted face.
  • A.B.A no longer takes damage with each attack she lands.
    • Instead, the Jealousy Gauge depletes over time or when she moves forwards, but can be stalled by landing attacks.
  • Jealous Rage runs on the Jealousy gauge, which can be filled by landing Special Attacks and parrying an opponent's attacks with Frenzy and Astonishment.
    • The only exclusive attack to Jealous Rage is Frenzy and Astonishment.

A.B.A's blood packs are one of her unique mechanics throughout the Guilty Gear XX series.

A.B.A's Blood Packs

Exclusive to the regular version, A.B.A starts the round with 3 blood packs. These are used as an alternate means of going into - and out of Sacrifice Mode.

She also requires at least 1 blood pack to activate her Altercation Overdrive.

Bonding (結合, Ketsugō?) was first introduced in Guilty Gear XX Slash.

Renamed Bonding and Dissolving (結合と変性, Ketsugō to Hensei?, lit. Bonding and Degeneration) in Guilty Gear -Strive-.

GGXX

In its original appearance, A.B.A swings the chain attached to Paracelsus' "neck" around in circles. If it connects, A.B.A drives the end of Paracelsus into her opponent's middle, then turns him like a key, creating a seal in front of her and makes blood splash out of her target before tossing them away. If used in Regular Mode, A.B.A goes into Sacrifice Mode; if already in the state, she goes back to normal.

Since EX A.B.A is already in Sacrifice Mode, Bonding simply has her swing the chain around, able to do it repeatedly by mashing Heavy Slash. She can also do it in the air.

Bonding and Dissolving
A.B.A forgoes the chains and simply jabs Paracelsus into her opponent's gut, where Paracelsus' head turns into black sludge as he pierces the target before A.B.A pulls him out.

Not only does it fill her Jealousy gauge by 1/4, she also enters Jealous Rage if in regular mode, and comes out of it when in Jealous Rage.

While Bonding and Dissolving is safe on block, A.B.A is left wide open if she whiffs with it.

Deletion (抹消, Masshō?, lit. Erasure) was first introduced in Guilty Gear XX Slash.

Renamed Menace and Groan (威喝と嗚咽, Ikatsu to Oetsu?, lit. Threatening and Sobbing) in Guilty Gear -Strive-.

GGXX

Deletion
In its original appearance, A.B.A swipes her front arm down quickly, bashing her opponent. From there, she can follow up with Ruin (覆滅, Fukumetsu?, lit. Ruination). The regular version has A.B.A jab her opponent with a small key, while EX A.B.A's version has her crouch down to bash her opponent's legs with her rear arm. After Ruin, she can follow up with Condemnation (断獄, Dangoku?). The regular version has A.B.A toss Paracelsus head-first to the floor, while EX A.B.A's version has her lift Flament Nagel up as he breathes electrical fire. Additionally, A.B.A can respectfully follow up Ruin with Retribution or Blunder.

A.B.A twirls forward and swipes her opponent overhead with her rear hand. When used in Jealous Rage, A.B.A travels further.

After Menace and Groan, A.B.A can follow up with Restriction and Constraint (抑圧と束縛, Yokuatsu to Sokubaku?) - essentially the same as regular A.B.A's Condemnation, now with Paracelsus being thrown end-first, with the blade being wrapped in gauze to taper the edge so it can be spiked into the ground - of course, A.B.A unravels Paracelsus when the move finishes. When used in Jealous Rage, it causes a ground bounce on hit.

Avoidance (忌避, Kihi?) was first introduced in Guilty Gear XX Slash, and last seen in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R.

Avoidance
Exclusive to her regular form, A.B.A crouches low, then claws at her rear arm to draw blood, which she then throws as a projectile. It travels a short distance, though it has quick recovery.

Injecting (焼成, Shōsei?, lit. Firing)/Displacement (分離, Bunri?, lit. Detachment) was first introduced in Guilty Gear XX Slash.

Renamed Changing and Swaying (変転と感化, Henten to Kanka?, lit. Mutation and Influence) in Guilty Gear -Strive-.

GGXX

In its original appearance, Injecting has A.B.A squirt a blood pack into Paracelsus' mouth, immediately switching to Sacrifice Mode at the cost of one of her stocks. If used in Sacrifice Mode, Injecting becomes Displacement, where A.B.A tries to squirt another blood pack into Flament Nagel's mouth, only for him to spit it back up on her, thus returning to her regular form.

A.B.A forgoes the blood packs, now crouching down as black sludge engulfs Paracelsus and she gets mad, entering Jealous Rage. Can only be used if she has >1/4 Jealousy.

If already in Jealous Rage, Changing and Swaying restores a small portion of Jealousy as A.B.A exits the state.

Dragging (牽引, Ken'in?, lit. Pulling) was first introduced in Guilty Gear XX Slash.

Renamed Haul and Heed (牽引と随順, Ken'in to Zuijun?, lit. Hauling and Obeying Instruction) in Guilty Gear -Strive-.

A.B.A ducks low as she rushes forward, dragging Paracelsus with her as he scrapes his outermost edge across the floor.

While moving, A.B.A is able to avoid most high and mid-level attacks, namely projectiles.

Additionally, while in Jealous Rage, the distance A.B.A travels is increased.

Retribution (消却, Shōkyaku?, lit. Payback) was first introduced in Guilty Gear XX Slash.

Renamed Intertwine and Tilt (戮力と傾動, Rikuryoku to Keidō?, lit. Killing Intent and Tilting) in Guilty Gear -Strive-.

GGXX

Retribution
In its original appearance, A.B.A puts her feet on Paracelsus' neck, then flings herself forward for an overhead roundhouse kick. She can only do this while in her regular form, and can be used after the Ruin follow-up to Deletion.

GGST

In -STRIVE-, A.B.A climbs up Paracelsus, holds on to his "head", then thrusts both of her feet out diagonally downwards for a dropkick that causes a hard knockdown.

Unlike Retribution, A.B.A can use Intertwine and Tilt in either Mode - when used in Jealous Rage, the sludge around Paracelsus' head stretches out like a bow, becoming an overhead that causes a mild ground bounce.

Judgement (断罪, Danzai?) was first introduced in Guilty Gear XX Slash.

Renamed Judgement and Sentiment (断罪と情動, Danzai to Jōdō?, lit. Conviction and Emotion) in Guilty Gear -Strive-.

Exclusive to Sacrifice Mode/Jealous Rage, A.B.A swings Paracelsus/Flament Nagel up-and-down, hitting the opponent up to 2 times.

While the Guilty Gear XX version caused a ground bounce in all situations, -STRIVE-'s version only causes a ground bounce on an aerial opponent - otherwise, it causes a hard knockdown.

Blunder (過失, Kashitsu?) was first introduced in Guilty Gear XX, and last seen in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R.

Blunder
Exclusive to Sacrifice Mode, A.B.A climbs up Paracelsus and flips over, failing to throw a bubble-shaped projectile at her opponent - only to do an overhead double toe-kick and land on her knees.

Eradication (根絶, Konzetsu?) was first introduced in Guilty Gear XX Slash, last seen in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R.

Eradication
Exclusive to Sacrifice Mode, A.B.A rapidly creates 2 spheres of energy at her flanks, then hops slightly upwards.

Engorgement (飽食, Hōshoku?, lit. Gluttony) was first introduced in Guilty Gear XX Slash, and last seen in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R.

Engorgment
Exclusive to Sacrifice Mode, A.B.A clings onto Flament Nagel as he launches himself at the opponent to bite them, causing a hard knockdown.

Frenzy and Astonishment (逆上と驚愕, Gyakujō to Kyōgaku?) was first introduced in Guilty Gear -Strive-.

Frenzy and Astonishment
Exclusive to her regular form, A.B.A takes cover behind Paracelsus, tugging at his handle like a bow, then slings it back over her shoulder.

While strung, A.B.A can parry an attack, which fills her Jealousy bar by 1/4 on successful guard. She also doesn't take any chip damage from this move, and remains projectile invincible until she goes back to her neutral stance.

Note: This cannot parry throws or command grabs.

Dragging (牽引, Ken'in?, lit. Pulling) was first introduced in Guilty Gear XX Slash, and last seen in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R. Exclusive to regular A.B.A.

Dragging
Exclusive to her regular form, A.B.A ducks low as she rushes forward, dragging Paracelsus with her as he scrapes his outermost edge across the floor. A.B.A travels further than the regular Dragging, also being able to pass through her opponent if she is close to them.

While moving, A.B.A is able to avoid most high and mid-level attacks, namely projectiles.

Avoidance (忌避, Kihi?) was first introduced in Guilty Gear XX Slash, and last seen in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R.

Avoidance
While in Sacrifice Mode (Only applies to regular A.B.A.), A.B.A crouches low, then claws at her rear arm to draw blood, which she then throws as a projectile. Unlike the regular version, FB Avoidance travels a set distance, then bursts - it can phase through the opponent if used up-close.

On contact, it deals 6 hits for regular A.B.A, and just 2 for her EX form. The recovery time is also greatly increased, allowing A.B.A to move straight after throwing the projectile.

Judgement (断罪, Danzai?) was first introduced in Guilty Gear XX Slash, and last seen in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R.

Judgement
While in Sacrifice Mode (Only applies to regular A.B.A.), A.B.A swings Flament Nagel up-and-down, hitting the opponent up to 2 times, launching the opponent higher than the regular version.

Injecting (焼成, Shōsei?, lit. Firing) was first introduced in Guilty Gear XX Slash, and last seen in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R. Exclusive to EX A.B.A.

Injecting
Flament Nagel spits up blood on her and turns back to Paracelsus - only for A.B.A to feed him another blood pack, which refills a chunk of her health and return to the Sacrifice Mode.

Unlike her regular versions, FB Injecting does not use up blood packs, since EX A.B.A doesn't have this mechanic.

Evidence: Concealment (証拠・隠匿, Shōko: Intoku?, lit. Evidence: Harboring) was first introduced in Guilty Gear XX Slash, and last seen in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R.

Evidence: Concealment
A.B.A claws at her rear arm to make it bleed, then thrusts it into the ground, creating a geyser of blood that launches the opponent.

Additional inputs of DownDown RightRight + Heavy Slash create subsequent second and third geysers, using alternating hands to create them.

Evidence: Destruction (証拠・隠滅, Shōko: Inmetsu?) was first introduced in Guilty Gear XX Slash, and last seen in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R.

Evidence: Destruction
A.B.A starts the attack with Evidence: Destruction (Departure) (証拠・隠滅 (往路, Shōko: Inmetsu (Ōro)?, lit. Evidence: Destruction (Outward Journey)), charging towards her opponent while shrouded by swirling aura, launching them with each hit.

While in Sacrifice Mode (Only applies to regular A.B.A.), she can follow up with Evidence: Destruction (Arrival) (証拠・隠滅 (復路), Shōko: Inmetsu (Fukuro)?, lit. Evidence: Destruction (Return Journey)), charging into her opponent a second time.

Altercation (変質, Henshitsu?, lit. Transmutation) was first introduced in Guilty Gear XX Slash, and last seen in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R. Exclusive to regular A.B.A.

Altercation
While already in Sacrifice Mode, A.B.A feeds Flament Nagel another blood bag, which makes him turn black with golden veins going down to just above his edge for a moment.

For the following 55 seconds (if A.B.A doesn't attack at all), A.B.A is able to indefinitely chain any and all of her normal attacks, and cancel into special attacks.

Evidence: Eradication (証拠・爆滅, Bakumetsu?, lit. Evidence: Explosive Destruction) was first introduced in Guilty Gear XX, and last seen in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R. Exclusive to EX A.B.A.

Evidence: Eradication
A.B.A sacrifices all of her health while her bandages come undone, then creates a seal around her that hits her opponent twice (if next to them). If both hits connect, her opponent has half their health bar shredded off.

The Law is Key, Key is King (鍵の支配, Kagi no Shihai?, lit. Control of the Key) was first introduced in Guilty Gear -Strive-.

Upon activation, A.B.A does a reverse Judgement, slamming Paracelsus down overhead, then upwards, filling 1/2 of the Jealousy gauge. If used in while in Jealous Rage, after the first hit, Paracelsus' head turns red and draconic, then A.B.A swings him around 3 times, hitting the opponent 6 times in all.

Depletes Jealousy gauge if used during Jealous Rage.

Keeper of the Key (鍵の守護者, Kagi no Shugosha?, lit. Guardian of the Key) was first introduced in Guilty Gear -Strive-.

Keeper of the Key
A.B.A thrusts Paracelsus into the ground, creating a gateway-shaped portal beneath her opponent. If they're within range, a black-and-red leech with many eyes strikes the opponent, launching them up. If used during Jealous Rage, 3 of the leeches.

Darkness of Ignorance (無知の闇, Muchi no Yami?) is A.B.A's first and only Instant Kill, appearing in Guilty Gear XX Slash up to Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R. Originally localized as Unknown Darkness in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core.

Darkness of Ignorance
As she thrusts her hands into the ground, A.B.A's bandages unravel themselves. If she hits her opponent, a giant, intricately-designed, 2-doored stone gate appears behind her, which pulls her opponent inside it by an attractive force. Once they're inside, the doors close, then Paracelsus falls down to slash the gate in half, cementing their opponent's fate.

The following is A.B.A's move list in Guilty Gear XX Slash, Λ Core, Λ Core Plus and Λ Core Plus R. Changes between releases include: ...

Note: GG and GGX A.B.A have no Force Breaks; GG A.B.A adds Charge (Heavy Slash + Dust), and Darkness of Ignorance is replaced by Morbid World (Punch + Kick + Slash + Heavy Slash). The following chart uses the most recent, localized names from Λ Core Plus R.
