Junkyard Dog
Junkyard Dog, also simply called Junkyard, is Sol Badguy's primary weapon in the Guilty Gear Xrd games, which combines two Sacred Treasures—the Fireseal and Flashing Fang. It can be used as blunt sword, and as a long-range cannon that can fire the Saint Oratorio spell.
Design
The Junkyard Dog Mk.2 borrows a similar rectangular shape from Order-Sol's weapon, which may have been the Junkyard Dog Mk.1[note 1] Its main body is asymmetrical and painted red with a grey rectangular protrusion at its tip and a window cut near its center to reveal a section of its similarly grey inner mechanisms. A narrow orange light at the top and a groove ending with three hexagonal teeth at its center give it an appearance reminiscent of either a snarling dog or dragon. Just behind the orange light is the Junkyard Dog emblem. At its hilt opposite its handle is a single spike. A golden cross decal above the handle leads up to a round piece, similarly covered in spikes, that opens outward when the sword's cannon is used. The Mk.2 also consists of the Fireseal and the Flashing Fang, and can fire the Saint Oratorio spell.[1]
The Mk.3, which features in Guilty Gear Xrd, also contains the Fireseal and Flashing Fang and is capable of firing the Saint Oratorio. Its design overall is very similar to the Mk.2's, consisting of a more streamlined red body with a grey blade edge along one side. The hexagonal teeth have been replaced with a simpler zigzagging groove where the casing splits open, allowing for the loading and unloading of its "ammo," whose "cartridges" seemingly require "ignition" by Sol before being loaded into it. At the hilt is a hollow, grey, rectangular piece open at the top with five holes drilled through its left and right sides. Attached to this rectangular piece is a a dark grey wheel, completing a very Zippo lighter-inspired design. The Junkyard Dog emblem is now stenciled near the tip of the sword along with the text "JUNKYARD DOG MK.3" and "H96(GDA)HN MODEL H." At the hilt of the sword is a stylized Mercury symbol and the text "BULLET HEAVEN" with "PAT.P Jan,15,2187" beneath it.
Story
In 2186, following the Baptisma 13 incident, Sol decides to prepare himself for the second coming of Valentine's forces,[1] Sol decides to upgrade his Fireseal sword, and designs the Junkyard Dog as a simple version of the Outrage[2] he himself created in 2073.[3] Unfortunately, it requires the Flashing Fang in order to fulfill that function.[2]
Sol, accompanied by Sin, thus embarks upon a journey to collect the Sacred Treasure and soon discovers that the Fang is being held under tight security inside a United Nations facility known as Harden Fort.[1] Around July, 2187,[4] Sol and Sin fight their way into the facility, where they run into Baldias. After a tremendous battle, Sol is able to defeat the Conclave member and take the Fang.[1] With both treasures in his possession, Sol hires a dog-human gunsmith, who was introduced to him by Dr. Paradigm, to build the Junkyard.[2]

Abilities
Junkyard Dog can be used as a blunt weapon, or to fire projectiles. It is designed to be a simple version of the Outrage—a portable weapon that could fire the Saint Oratorio,[2] a very high-energy spell that is extremely dangerous to the user.[5]
By virtue of being composed of both the Fireseal and the Flashing Fang, it is able to concentrate and amplify fire magic,[6] and create and manipulate light magic.[7] It is a powerful weapon; at three-fold output, a blast of the Junkyard is able to "smash a mountain," according to Sol.[8]
Trivia
- The Fireseal resembles in most of his appearances a gas lighter, while the Junkyard Dog looks like a Zippo lighter.
- Junkyard Dog might be named in-universe after Order-Sol's weapon—a piece of concrete with a pipe as a handle—during his time in the Sacred Order of Holy Knights. At least two illustrations by Daisuke Ishiwatari show the weapon with "Junkyard Dog" carved on it.
